Project 3 - Turtleback Zoo

Turtleback Zoo

This is a group of five videos of Turtleback Zoo. I used windows movie maker to the slides together. Now I uploaded it with Mediafire.com - and posted the link to the blog. This is just a wonderful evening at the zoo, viewing the animals and enjoying how the children love the animals.

Carving Possibilities by Deena Larsen

Deena got a BA in English and Philosophy at the University of Northern Colorado in 1986. Her works are on structural theme by using layout.

Words: The short phrases seem to be leading up to something but not really coming to any specific conclusions. The words have feelings of intensity. Some of the phrases are actual questions that seem to ask actual facts about what did occur.

Imagery is very classical it is the actual stone sculpture of David's facial expression, right before he fought with Goliath on the battle field. Both men moving towards each other knowing that one is going to kill the other.

Navigation: The user can gently move the mouse over the surface of the face to make the words appear. Moving from one sentence to another sometimes seems to make a direct connection to the previous set of words. However, the next movement changes to another mode or sense of. The question left in my mine was 'Where is the real David' the Biblical David.

Out of Many We are One People, is the final copy of Jamacian PowerPoint Presentation. I choose this one because there is a lot of meaning to what I am trying to put across. This very rich heritage is not just unique to Jamaicans but to all nations of this world.

Using Power Point I created a presentation, by going to the tool bar file - New Presentation
On the blank page I clicked on the text box to input my copy. With the text box selected I went into the tool bar again, view - custom animation. Inside custom animation palette there are three types of animation options that can be applied to the selected text box. I can add entrance effect, add emphasis effect, and add exit effect.
I chose the effects that seemed interesting to use in my presentation. With the text box selected and by clicking on the different animation options, I can see a preview of the animation style, and determine which animation is most desirable for my needs, and then applied the animation effect to my text box.
Once I applied my animation effect to my text box in the custom animation palette, I can see the animation I applied in the animation order area. Below this area are settings I can use further to customize my animation effects. There is the start option which allows me to determine when I want my animation to start; on click, with previous, after previous. I also have a property option, which determines the direction my animation will start from; from top, bottom, left or right, etc. I also have a speed option that specifies how fast I want my animation to occur.
There are more options that can also be used to enhance my presentation, such as more effect options, like sound, timing and text animation. Sound allows me to apply music and other sound effects to my presentation. Timing lets me apply specific time for my effects to occur, and text animation allows me to apply my animation effect to my text all at once, by letter, by word, or even by groups of text.

Electronic Literature Course with Dr. Chandler ENG 4080 Section 1
I worked on Power point presentation. I just needed help to fix some
of the slide transitions and insert music from a CD. However we used
youtube and converted MP3 files and saved it on my flash drive via

http://www.video2mp3.net/.

We finished and timed my power point.

The project is a brief view on the history of Jamaica. It gives the viewer a glimpse into the origins of the people and the symbols that are important. Theme of my project is "Out of Many, One People" which is the nation's motto.

In Project 2 I plan to use PowerPoint. I am not quite sure how I will link it but I will ask for help. I want to do a documentary on Jamaica. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the people are wonderful. I am looking for to doing this. I already have some nice pictures; I need to learn how to do animation.

Blog 6

This is a poem I would like to use in my piece. I do not know how to post a map as yet.

Autumn

A North wind blows in the cold breeze;
And trees become bare of their leaves.
As they fall to the ground; earth tones
Of yellow, Orange, purple and brown.

Temperatures rise, and they fall;
Maple, oak and pine trees still remain tall.
Bushes of lilac and purple heather,
Flourish the mountains during this weather.

Reindeers wonder among the woods; as
Squirrels gather acorns to store some food.
Vineyards of grape will soon be turned into wine.
Autumn is the season of maturity in decline.

Blog 5 - Google Sits

I have very little experience with google.sites. I tried to personalize my site with a Google Calendar Viewer, The Weather, The simple Clock, The Google Translate My Page the Fish for senery, and it was fun. I need to spend more time with it. I tried to upload a picture but I do not see the picture anywhere on the site. The truth is I know nothing about Google Sites, and I will need all the help that I can get.

Blog 4 - Brainstorming

Basically I am interested in hypertext that focuses on nature and the natural world. Maybe such as a poem. I could even do a short story about anything or a carnival that displays all kinds of festivities.

Cruising
When I went into Cruising, there was nothing I could do to move forward. When I moved the mouse in different areas of the screen, it only zoomed in and seemed to move faster. The music and the words that were spoken were not interesting to me. The fast moving vehicles and buildings zooming in and out were also boring. At the bottom there was a window that window that said adobe flasher, I click on it then decided not to try anything more.

ii In The White Darkness
I love my experience with this piece. It is very pleasant and peaceful to watch. Unlike some of the others, I did not get frustrated with this one. The Sceneries were lovely. Not all of the dots opened up a scene and sometimes I end up seeing the same scene over again. But I enjoyed this one.

Landscapes
Landscapes were fun to look at but there was not that much to do but just click on the titles.

Possibilities for the review assignment
1. Stud Poetry
2. My Ball
3. Birds Singing Other Birds Song

Blog 2 - FAQ About Hypertext

I still can not figure out what there is all to know about hypertext. I think the first thing I need to do is to stop trying to make logical sense out of it. I also realize that there is no set pattern but there are links that can take you all over the place.

Disappearing Rain

By: Deena Larsen

At first I really did not know where to start because there were so many options. I first went to the link that said “Come on in” then I thought ‘The Water’s Fine’ would be a good place to start reading. I began at ‘The Word’ then after going through the titles from ‘Knowing thru Melted Water’. I realized that I should have started from part one.

I enjoyed reading this story and it is easy to follow. I did not have any trouble with the links because they gave me a good sense of what this story is all about. The only problem is that each time I read a passage and click on a link in the passage, I could either go further in the story or backwards into a section that I have already read.

Twelve Blue

When I read Twelve Blue, I found it very difficult because at first I couldn't make any sense out of it because the script changes as I tried to move forward. On the other hand, I really wasn't sure how to move forward. I kept touching the lines in order from top to bottom, but that did not keep things in sequence. When I finally got interested in Ed Stanko's story and tried to go forward by the colors on the lines, I ended up with the text pertaining to Eleanore, the queen who floated away for King Author.

I went backwards with the arrow key to see if that could be of any help; but that only put me on the page where I before. I once ended on a page with the colored and numbers 1 thru 8 at the bottom. I really got confused when I realized that one of the stories’ locations was in England. When I read the part where Eleanor vowed to murder Ed Stanko before summer, I got frustrated that I couldn't continue because I didn't know how to move forward with the story about Ed.

I finally decided to just read whatever page comes available. I believe that it is all connected somehow, but I still do not get the meaning. I noticed that there was a lot mentioned around the ocean.
